Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Inkwell Forge (“Service”), operated by Inkwell Forge (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Inkwell Forge, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and agree to these Terms in full. If you are using Inkwell Forge on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Inkwell Forge is a documentation platform that analyzes GitHub and GitLab code repositories and generates professional documentation deliverables including training manuals, API references, security audit reports, test plans, and 32 other document types.

The Service connects to repositories you authorize, analyzes source code, and generates documentation using proprietary templates and processing engines. Generated output is provided as a starting point and is subject to the limitations described in these Terms and in the generated documents themselves.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.

3. Account Registration

You must create an account to use Inkwell Forge. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and current registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials and not share them with others
  • Promptly notify us of any unauthorized use of your account at terms@useinkwellforge.com
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

One person or legal entity may not maintain more than one free account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Inkwell Forge to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation, or the rights of any third party
  • Connect repositories you do not own or have authorization to analyze
  • Attempt to circumvent plan limits, abuse the free tier, or create multiple accounts to evade restrictions
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our proprietary templates or processing models
  • Resell or sublicense the Service without our prior written consent
  • Transmit malicious code, interfere with the Service, or attempt unauthorized access to our systems
  • Use the Service in a way that could harm, disable, or impair our infrastructure

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions.

5. Intellectual Property

Your code

You retain all ownership rights to your source code and repositories. We access your code only to provide the Service and do not claim any rights to it.

Generated documents

You own the documentation generated from your repositories. Inkwell Forge grants you a perpetual, irrevocable license to use, modify, distribute, and sublicense the generated documents for any purpose, subject to these Terms.

Inkwell Forge platform

The Inkwell Forge platform — including our document templates, software, design, and all related intellectual property — is owned by us and protected by copyright and other applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our platform intellectual property other than to use the Service as described.

6. Payment Terms

Free tier

The free tier is limited to one generation run per calendar month (one screen and one deliverable). No payment is required for the free tier.

Pay-as-you-go

Pay-as-you-go charges are calculated based on actual estimated estimated processing cost multiplied by the plan's pricing multiplier. The exact charge is displayed before you confirm a generation run. Charges are applied to your saved payment method via Stripe before generation begins.

Subscriptions

Starter and Pro subscriptions are billed monthly. Monthly subscription fees are converted to an equivalent credit balance that you spend on generation runs. Unused credits do not roll over to the next billing period. Usage beyond your credit balance is billed as overage to your payment method on file.

Refunds

All charges are final. We do not issue refunds for completed generation runs or for unused subscription credits at the end of a billing period. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at terms@useinkwellforge.com within 30 days.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that generated documentation is accurate, complete, or free of errors. Generated documents are produced by automated analysis of source code and may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or content that requires verification by qualified professionals before use in regulated, legal, security, or medical contexts. All generated documents include disclosure statements to this effect.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Inkwell Forge and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities — arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

9. Termination

You may cancel your account at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period for paid plans.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe your use poses a security risk or harm to us or other users.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution — will survive.

10. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service before the effective date.
